Desk Top Investigator

Efficiently and accurately review claims to determine their legitimacy.

Main responsibilities

  • Review and authenticate all incoming claims, accurately and efficiently requesting any missing information or documentation.
  • Interact with clients in an empathetic and sincere manner, building on our company values and brand while adhering to established procedures for processing claims by recording all pertinent information on our system
  • Develop excellent product knowledge to confidently evaluate claim legitimacy according to the terms and conditions outlined in the policy documents
  • Ensure client satisfaction by effectively addressing and managing claim expectations, employing Treating Customers Fairly principles and communicating clearly with clients and service providers
  • Organise and update daily workflow tasks and queues to ensure timely processing and the achievement of daily targets with precision, within the service timeframes
  • Help the company identify potential fraudulent claims
  • Perform various administrative duties required to support the function
  • Excellent client and service provider interactions

Minimum requirements

  • Matric
  • Completed Degree, in one of the following, Criminology (Honours), Law (LLB), Forensics or Finance/Accounting
  • Excellent communication skills, be articulate and fluent in English with a neutral accent
  • Previous experience in claim’s investigation is an advantage

Investigations Manager

Use industry knowledge and strong motor claims investigative skills to lead, guide and mentor a team of junior investigators to meet the set targets.

Main responsibilities

  • Oversight and management of a team of desk top investigators
  • Use technical expertise to guide your team and ensure that set targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards
  • Monitor and course correct daily performance
  • Provide effective, supportive leadership with a desired outcome of creating a team that commits to the overall vision of the company
  • Carry out the performance management, reward and recognition processes for each professional’s performance (KPI) and provide continuous, feedback to your team members of their strengths and areas of development
  • Motivate and inspire team members to provide consistent performance
  • Identify and implement process improvement concepts
  • Use industry technical expertise to coach and train less experienced desktop investigators and assist in improving training methods and content
  • Conduct regular reviews of claims both individually and collaboratively in teams to evaluate the claim process and investigation techniques
  • Work closely with senior management and contribute strategically through data analytics, scorecard projects and insightful planning
  • Recommend and implement best practices to ensure company policies and insurance industry regulations are followed through in the claims investigation process
  • Maintain a strong professional knowledge of claims regulatory and legal environments
  • Perform various administrative duties required to support the function, including capacity planning

Minimum requirements

  • Matric
  • Completed Degree, (Criminology (Honours), Law (LLB), Forensics, Finance/ Accounting are preferable) or a 3-year Diploma from a reputable tertiary organization
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and internet navigation
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, be articulate and fluent in English
  • Previous people management experience
  • Minimum 5-10 years in a similar or related role
  • Registration as a representative with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS Act, advantageous
