What engine is in the new Toyota Hilux Legend 50? 1
The Toyota Hilux Legend 50 comes with two engine options. The most popular engine choice will be Toyota’s staple engine, the 2.8-litre GD-6 which has a power output of up to 130kW and 450Nm of torque. It has a pretty good fuel consumption between 7.6 L/100km and 8.5 L/100km for the manual and automatic gearbox respectively.
The other engine option on the Toyota Hilux Legend 50 is the 4.0-litre V6 petrol engine, which will attract the more die-hard fans to the Toyota Hilux Legend range. The 4.0-litre petrol engine has a power output of 175kW and 378Nm torque. Unfortunately, when it comes to fuel economy, the 4.0-litre engine is a bit on the heavy side and is not ideal for a daily commuter. It has a fuel economy of 11.8 L/100km.
When it comes to the manual driven gearbox on the Hilux Legend 50, which has an Intelligent Manual Transmission, this technology helps the transmission cleverly rev-match the engine to ensure that the motor drives smoothly.
How does the Toyota Hilux Legend 50 handle the rough stuff? 1
This goes without having to say much, but the Toyota Hilux is, as per usual, highly capable of handling the rough stuff. The 4×4 equipped Hilux models do have a range selector dial feature; this allows you to switch quite easily between 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel low range. The 4×4 Hilux version also has a differential lock on the rear axle. For extra peace of mind, the Hilux has a downhill assist control and a hill-start assist feature.
