The Suzuki S-Presso
Suzuki upgraded this entry-level hatchback near the end of 2022, by making the powertrain more cost-effective and providing new standard features. 1
The Suzuki S-Presso
Although the S-Presso is available as six derivatives, they all have the same 1-litre petrol engine supplying 49 kW of power and 89 Nm of torque to the front wheels. In addition, you can choose either a five-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission. 1
The Suzuki provides excellent petrol consumption
The hatchback with manual transmission averages a mere 4.61 litres/100 km, while the automatic version consumes a little less at 4.4 litres/100 km. 1
How does the hatchback perform?
A test driver took the entry-level car along the Western Cape’s Chapman’s Peak and surrounding terrain. It negotiated the hills, valleys and traffic well, and averaged slightly more than 5.01 litres/100 km. 2
The Suzuki’s exterior
It has a ground clearance of 180 mm and is 3,565 mm long, 1,520 mm wide, and 1,567 mm high. Its spacious boot has a capacity of 239 litres. The hatchback comes with 14-inch steel wheels. 1
A spacious interior
There is sufficient space inside the cabin, providing ample room for three passengers.2
What are some new features of the upgraded Suzuki?
These standard features include electric front windows, central locking, electronically adjustable side mirrors, and a stop-start button. It also has manual air-conditioning, a multi-function steering wheel, and rear parking sensors. Although Suzuki has supplied two speakers, they will install a radio at an extra cost. 1
What are Suzuki S-Presso’s safety features like?
These include two front airbags, ABS brakes, electronic stability control, and two rear ISOFIX child seat mounts. 1
Do you prefer to drive the GL+trim derivative?
If so, you’ll need to spend an extra R8,000. That will get you a 7-inch infotainment screen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and 14-inch alloy wheels. 1
What about the S-Edition?
This car is at the top of all six derivatives, costing R24,000 more than the entry-level model. The S-Edition has a larger 9-inch media screen, and a reverse camera. Striking side sills and silver bezel inserts on the front and rear bumpers make up a new styling kit. 1
