Since 2016 Suzuki has sold more than 550 000 units. The Brezza in South Africa has been updated to 2020 specifications, consisting of an adjusted design and an engine upgrade. This SUV has been a great hit in India, with sales so good that it was named the Indian Car of the Year in 2017.
How does the Vitara Brezza differ from others in the family?1
It has the same 2500-mm wheelbase but is 180 mm shorter and slightly higher (by 30 mm) and wider (by 15 mm). Its kerb weight is 1 115 kg, whilst it has, at 192 mm, 7 mm more ground clearance than the Vitara.
What are some additional changes made to the Vitara Brezza?1
It has a skid-plate type bumper, a chrome-looking grille, roof rails, fog lamps, side mountings, a tailgate spoiler, and wheel-arch extensions.
What about the top-spec GLX derivatives?1
They differ from their GL counterparts by having full-LED headlights and daytime running lights. They also have bumper garnishes with a silver finish, gunmetal-coloured roof rails, and, lastly, diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels.
How is the Vitara Brezza powered?1
The naturally-aspirated, 1.5-litre, K15B engine with 4 cylinders provides a power output of 77 kW and 138 Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the front wheels via 4-speed automatic or manual transmission. Claimed fuel consumption figures are not yet available but are likely to be similar to the Ertiga.
How safe is the Vitara Brezza?1
The SUV was awarded a 4-star crash safety rating by Global NCAP in 2018. It has 2 front airbags, brake assist, as well as ISOFIX child-seat mounting points at the rear. An immobiliser and security alarm are standard.
