SUVs seem to be becoming increasingly popular for various potential reasons, such as the high position for excellent visibility. The extra height also makes getting in and out of your car so much less strenuous. Boot space is that much more significant than hatchbacks, and so the list continues. Discover more about the Haval H2 as you read on.1
What is the Haval H2 like?1
The Haval H2 is quite a large SUV and is extremely practical to use. However, what makes this SUV especially attractive is its price of R269 900 (2020). The H2’s length of 4365 mm exceeds that of the Ford EcoSport, but costs R40 000 less.
Where does the H2 fit in in the Haval family?1
Out of 5 SUVs on offer, the H2 fits in between the cheaper and smaller H1 crossover and the larger H6 SUV.
What are some of H2’s features?1
The H2 1.5T City grade is equipped with a rear parking camera, keyless entry, and LED daytime driving lights. The command touch screen is pleasant to the eye and easy to operate. You can also choose the automatic version equipped with a panoramic roof.
The Haval H2’s powertrain1
The crossover has a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine with a power output of 105 kW and 202 Nm of torque that’s transmitted via a six-speed manual gearbox. The torque experienced appears to be more than sufficient, and the H2 does not battle going up steep inclines. Moreover, the car can tow up to 1225 kg braked trailers. This engine/manual transmission combination has made the H2 an affordable crossover. The claimed fuel consumption is 8.2 L/100 km, but in test drives, this figure changed to 10 L/100 km/h.
A challenge with the gear lever for some1
The gear lever is not positioned correctly to allow for easy hand movements during gear changing. Because of this, the driver’s seat has to be adjusted, which, in turn, interferes with the required ergonomics.
What about the Haval brand in general?1
This brand is emerging from its embryonic stage and is slowly but surely becoming established in safety and quality. Although not outstanding, the crossover’s performance is adequate.
What does the latest face-lifted H2 look like?1
The style with the headlights and grille has improved, while the car is equipped with larger tailpipes, different-shaped taillights, and striking alloy wheel shapes.
The Chinese myth is fading away1
The perception that Chinese cars are cheap and of poor quality is beginning to change when one experiences the affordable Haval H2.
