What are some of the changes made to the Rio?1
New colours such as Perennial Grey and Sporty Blue are now available, providing some extra hype to the segment. In addition, both the front bumper and grille have new looks, while 15-inch alloy wheels are found on lower models and 17-inch wheels on the higher ones.
How does the Rio perform? 1
Don’t expect to be pushed back into your seat on take-off, but the 1.4-litre engine still manages an increased 0-100 km/hr in 12.9 seconds. The one option available is the 1.2-litre engine with a power output of 61 kW and torque of 120 Nm, married to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The other option is a 1.4-litre engine pushing out 73 kW power and 135 Nm torque via a six-speed manual or automatic. Unfortunately, the 1.2-litre version doesn’t make you feel too confident on the freeway, although the 1.4-litre version addresses this problem to a certain extent.

The fuel economy for both cars at 8 L/100 km is disappointing for this small hatchback.
How’s the Rio’s interior? 1
Kia has designed an interior with a professional look. USB ports are available in the back and front, while Bluetooth and an 8-inch infotainment system with six speakers perform well. Space in the Rio is of no issue due to the 2.5 m between the two axles, and there’s plenty of luggage space in the 325-litre boot.

Not only the Rio, but all Kia’s have a 5-year unlimited km warranty plus roadside assistance. In addition, all Rio’s have a 4-year or 60000 km service plan, although the 1.2 LS has only a 2-year/ 60000 km service plan.
