The Ford Fiesta has become a staple in most households, especially amongst the younger generation. The new Ford Fiesta is substantially more aesthetically pleasing to the eye and has had some vast improvements compared to the previous generation.
Here we will review the new Ford Fiesta 1.0T Titanium Automatic.
What are some of the performance features? 1
The new Ford Fiesta 1.0T Titanium is a 3-cylinder 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. It has a power output of 74 kW and 170 Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic transmission driven on the front wheels where the manual gearbox has a higher power output of 92kW of power.
There is a noticeable strain on the engine when driving the Ford Fiesta harder. The Ford Fiesta likes to be operated with a more measured approach. The throttle power on the Fiesta is sensitive, making it quite responsive, especially when pulling off.
The automatic gearbox is much more convenient but changing through the gears is not very smooth or seamless. When using the paddles on the steering wheel to shift gears manually, it proves a bit slow to respond in changing gears. It is better to leave it to change gears on its own.
When it comes to quick overtaking manoeuvres, the Fiesta seems to have enough punt to overtake quite comfortably. The automatic transmission seems to offer quite average performance, thus making it not as fun to drive as expected.
Ford claims that the Fiesta has a fuel consumption of 5.2 L/100 km, but with road testing, it proved to be quite heavy, averaging 9.2 L/100 km. Maybe with time and effort, one could get the fuel consumption down.
What is the handling like on the Ford Fiesta? 1
The Ford Fiesta performs very well when it comes to its overall ride and handling. The ride feels very composed and always delivers a quality ride that is comfortable and forgiving on different road surfaces. What’s more impressive is that the noise, vibration and ride comfort has improved quite significantly to its predecessor. The cabin noise is noticeably quieter while driving, making this a lot more pleasurable for both the driver and passengers.
The Fiesta offers much better handling due to a stiffer chassis, planted underpinnings, sporty tyres and sharper steering. With all of these factors, the Fiesta can be more committed to corners, giving the driver more confidence. Ford claims that the cornering grip has improved by 10% with the new Fiesta. Considering this, Ford has kept to its promise that it is still fun-to-drive.
What is the interior like in the Ford Fiesta? 1
The interior of the new Ford Fiesta has improved quite significantly compared to its predecessor. The new Fiesta will appeal more to youthful buyers. The Fiesta has a multifunctioning steering wheel, a floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3, Bluetooth, voice control, navigation and App Connect. It also boasts 2 USB ports, cruise control, climate control air conditioning, rear park distance control and heated seats. It also has automatic headlights and rain-sensing windscreen wipers which come as standard features on the Fiesta.
What is the price of the Ford Fiesta and warranty?1
The Ford Fiesta 1.0T Titanium Automatic is priced at R337 700 and comes with a 4-year/ 120 000 km warranty and a 4-year/60 000 km service plan.
The new Ford Fiesta is an excellent all-rounder, although not perfect, it is undeniably a great little car for the younger market.
