Most things in life require some form of maintenance. That also concerns cleaning a car, which most people will automatically think of as applying the outside. But what about the interior of a car, which is equally essential? After all, this is where motorists spend a lot of their time. Also, do you drive a Volkswagen? So, here are some tips for you to follow to keep the interior of your Volkswagen car clean and as new.1
First, remove the floor mats and shake them out. Next, clean out all the dirt, leaves, tissue paper, and other debris lying around the interior floor and seats. Look especially in crevices between the two front seats and the floor space under them. Use the vacuum cleaner to finish the job. Don’t forget the boot and the doors’ side pockets.
Vacuum the VW floor mats that usually consist of tough carpet material. If not supplied already, it’s best to buy some rubber mats that you can place on top of those mats. They are the first to receive any leaves, mud, and debris. Rubber mats are also useful for placing on the boot floor to prevent any objects sliding around the boot during travel.
For road safety reasons, windows must be clean and streak-free, particularly during bad weather. Use a Volkswagen product such as ‘3M Glass Cleaner' and paper or microfiber towel for cleaning your windows. Always spray the glass cleaner onto the towel outside the car so that you don’t damage the interior's fabric or plastic surfaces.
Use a moist, lint-free cloth and wipe the dashboard and other plastic surfaces. If that doesn’t do the job, you can try a Volkswagen product such as 3M Leather and Vinyl Restorer. An important warning is that you should never clean the dashboard or airbag modules with any cleaners that contain solvents. Solvents can damage the plastic surface by making it porous. Such fragile plastic could shatter into many harmful pieces if an airbag ever deploys, causing possible serious injury.
It’s surprising how quickly seats become messy so soon. If you spill anything on them, time is of the essence. Wipe up immediately and try and remove the stain, sung a moist woollen or cotton cloth. Use the upholstery attachment when vacuuming the seat surfaces and those hidden seams and parts. Apply a soft brush, special upholstery cleaner, or dry foam to remove any spots on upholstery and fabric lining headrests and doors.
Volkswagen seat covers are a great way to protect your beautiful upholstery from accidental spills or general wear and tear.
