The Starlet series consists of 5 models, each one equipped with an engine and two transmission options. Suzuki’s Indian division Maruti started providing small clues in February 2022 about a likely facelift of the Suzuki Baleno. A news leak that occurred towards the end of November 2021 revealed the Baleno displaying a revised front end and new rear taillights. Suzuki South Africa has indicated that this model should be entering our market soon.

Industry assumes that the Suzuki Baleno’s powertrain options will also be available for the Toyota Starlet. Although the 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine will only be available in the Indian market, South Africa will enjoy models equipped with a 1.4-litre engine generating 68kW and 130 Nm of torque.
