Toyota South Africa Motors has updated specifications of its most popular Hilux range, focusing specifically on the Xtra Cab Legend models. Read on and find out more about all the changes.1,2
Background to the Hilux success story
In 2022, Toyota sold over 32 000 4×4 units, making the Hilux the overall best-selling vehicle in South Africa. The local division attributed the sales success to the Japanese manufacturer’s excellent response to customers’ needs – hence the reason for these recent changes. The bakkie is available as a single cab, chassis cab, Xtra cab and double cab, equipped with either a petrol or diesel engine. 1,2
What are the improvements?
The Xtra Cab Legend models have the complete Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 package. This includes a high-speed-range adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision system, and a lane-departure alert. You can change the system’s operation via a multi-information display (MID) or dedicated steering switches. Toyota has also added a new light feature to the side mirrors of the Xtra Cab Legend models.1,2
More about specifications
All double-cab Legend derivatives, including the 4×2 variants, are now at the same specification level. For instance, the Legend trim level has a leather interior, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, the Toyota Safety Sense system, a dual-zone climate control, a smart entry system and a 9-speaker JBL premium audio system.1,2
The new automatic transmission temperature warning system
All Raised Body models, which include the 4×2 versions of the Raider and Legend grades with self-shifting gearboxes, now have this warning system. It informs the driver of the cog-swapper’s operation when negotiating a steep hill or carrying a large load.1
What about the colours
Customers can choose seven colours, which include Glacier White, Chromium Silver, Metallic Grey, Metallic Inferno, Cosmic Blue, Arizona Red and Oxide Bronze. Two extra colours, Platinum White and Attitude Black, are only available with double cab units. Despite the Hilux colour palette staying the same, Toyota South Africa Motors indicated that a limited number of all three body styles have the Sand Beige hue.1,2
How much does the Xtra Cab cost?
In the Xtra Cab range, the entry-level Hilux 2.4 GD-6 RB Raider 6MT sells for R521 500.1
