Hip-hop legend Cassper Nyovest needs no introduction. He is one of South Africa’s top hip-hop artists. Cassper often finds himself in the news regarding his personal life, rivalries and work.
South Africans enjoy following their favourite musicians’ social lives through social media, live performances and their ideal music streaming service. Lately, it’s been Cassper’s interactions on social media with local hitmaker, AKA, that have been in the news. The ensuing social media banter between these 2 hip-hop stars make for great entertainment headlines. There is a lot of news to share about Cassper, whether it’s about his hot songs or recent virtual concert. Before we dive into the latest news, let’s start at the beginning.
Cassper Nyovest’s career is inspirational. Mr Nyovest started Refiloe Maele Phoolo, minus his now-famous stage name. He comes from humble beginnings in Mafikeng and Potchefstroom. The hip-hop artist’s musical talent was noticed back in 2004, and the rest is pretty much history. One could say that Cassper’s tenacity and drive are unparalleled with Cassper reaping in his deserved success. He is not only an award-winning hip-hop artist, but Cassper is a multi-platinum-selling artist too. Another crowning achievement for this artist is that he has his own record label.
Cassper Nyovest’s breakout song was ‘Gusheshe’. This hit featured South African rapper Okmalumkoolkat.
You may have been listening to a lot of music during lockdown to keep your mind at ease while being locked up indoors. Cassper’s new songs are a hit just like all of his other music. The hip-hop star’s ‘Good for That’ and ‘Amademoni’ songs are new favourites amongst his fans.
Cassper is famously known as ‘Mr Fill Up’ because he is known to fill up stadiums for his live performances on short notice. He, like all other artists, haven’t been able to hold concerts since the lockdown started. That hasn’t stopped Cassper. Perhaps you watched his virtual live show recently. In May 2020, JOOX hosted a virtual concert for Cassper via the JOOX Music App’s live video streaming feature. Anyone who has the JOOX app could watch him perform for free. Cassper donated any income from his performance to support up-and-coming artists.
There is no doubt that Cassper will continue to fill up stadiums across South Africa and perhaps overseas too in the future. This hip-hop star will also carry on making hit after hit.
Let’s hope that the lockdown restrictions for live stadium concert performances end soon.
Part of what makes Cassper so loved by South Africans is that he relates to his fans and that his music is for everyone.
Maybe now is the time to save up to see Cassper’s next live performance in a stadium near you in the future. How could you save money when everything is generally expensive, and prices keep increasing?
