Toyota’s legendary Hilux nameplate was born 52 years ago, covering eight generations and a substantial fanbase. The last generation was launched in South Africa in 2016. The most notable changes occurred when the Raider replaced the SRX.
Explore the wholly overhauled Toyota Hilux and why getting comprehensive car insurance could be the best option for you in South Africa.
The Raider received a new grille with a chrome border. In addition, the 2.8 GD-6 Raider is equipped with Bi-LED headlights and LED indicators.
A striking 8-inch infotainment system with a floating screen design can be found inside the Raider.
The power output of the Hilux's turbocharged 2.8-litre diesel engine in the 2.8 GD-6 series increased by 30 kW to reach 150 kW. In the automatic models, torque grew by 50 Nm to a total of 500 Nm. Manual models kept their torque at 420 Nm.
The automatic and manual Hilux models have six gears, while the bakkie is available as a 4x2 or a 4x4.
The towing capacity of the 2.4 GD-6 4x4 was increased to 3.5 tonnes, which is equal to that of the 2.8 GD-6 4x4.
Flagship models of the new Hilux range will receive the ‘Legend’ name. An optional accessory package called ‘Legend RS’ is available for all ‘Legend’-grade models that include a dust-defensive kit, a rubberised bedliner, and a motorised roller shutter.
There are 9 exterior colours, with two new additions: Pearl White and Oxide Bronze. Only the 2.8 GD-6 4x4 Legend can have Attitude Black. Raider models are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, but 18-inch wheels have been allocated to Legend derivatives.
To protect it from all the dangers on the road, the new Toyota Hilux could be ideally suited to PMD’s affordable comprehensive car insurance.2
After you have purchased a new Toyota Hilux and arranged for financing by an institution such as a bank, you will be legally required to buy comprehensive car insurance. PMD’s comprehensive car insurance differs from other similar policies by offering customers two excellent benefits. The first benefit is an excess that reduces to zero, unlike other policies, where excess usually fixed. The second benefit is that premiums never increase*. Third-party car insurance covers incidents up to R1 million. The Hilux’s full retail value remains protected from accidental write-offs, hijackings, smaller accidents, natural disasters or fires, and theft. You can travel in the Hilux with peace of mind, knowing that 24-hour roadside assistance and towing service is there to assist you. The Hilux is also covered for hail and glass damage. T’s and C’s apply.
Pricing starts with a Hilux single cab 2.7 RBS 5MT at R385 700.1
