The local market is experiencing strong competition between the various compact crossovers. Toyota South Africa recently let the Toyota Corolla Cross enter the fray. Discover more about this compact crossover.1
Built in South Africa, the new crossover comes at an attractive price of R349 900. Toyota made sure that the crossover differs from the Toyota hatchback and sedan. The Corolla Cross has extended headlights that merge with a large grille and fog lights situated at the lower side of the bumper. From the side, the Corolla Cross has slightly flared fenders while black plastic cladding adorns the wheel arches and lower door sections. The rear end of the car boasts large elliptical taillights. The Toyota accessory catalogue for the Corolla Cross provides all you need to make your Cross look tougher and more specific to your taste.
The Corolla Cross has a 1.8-litre, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering a power output of 103 kW and 173 Nm of torque via a CVT to the front wheels.
The distinctive features of this powertrain are like that of the other Toyota products. Although driving the crossover is unassuming, the powertrain is more than enough for highway and urban driving. City driving is excellent, thanks to the CVT enabling a fine transfer of power to the front wheels. Unfortunately, the engine doesn’t immediately adjust to quick changes in acceleration. The Cross provides a comfortable ride due to it being based on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform. In addition, the chassis’ design takes care of all the bumps in the road.
The Toyota Corolla has come a long way in South Africa, and its consumers have always equated reliability with the brand. Therefore, Toyota South Africa expects the Toyota Corolla Cross to succeed as the other models. The manufacturer has already noticed a massive demand for the Toyota Corolla Cross, an excellent sign from consumers. In addition, crossovers' stunning image, competitive prices, and excellent fuel consumption make crossovers attractive. The manufacturer claims the fuel consumption to be 6.8 litres/100 km.
A total of 6 services or 90 000 km comes with this crossover.
